AK Youth Conference 09 10/27/2009
![]() This year's Alaska Youth Conference was amazing! We were able to bring 8 youth from Fort Yukon and everyone had an encounter with God that they will never forget. We were able to take these youth thanks to God speaking to hearts and bringing in the finances for us to be able to go. Without support from North Pole Assembly of God, Fairbanks First Assembly of God, Wright's Air, This Generation Ministries, KJNP, and Anchorage First Assembly of God, we would not be able to have this testimony. We flew into Fairbanks on Wednesday, the 20th and rove directly to Anchorage that evening. We arrived at 1:30 am on the 21st. The first night was amazing, with the Katinas and the Blue People. Sean Smith, our speaker, brought the word of God with clarity and passion. We were so blessed to be able to have him come and minister to the youth of Alaska. God is raising up a generation to be an example of His Light, His Life, and His Love in power as well as in word. I am so excited to be a part of what He is doing in our state. Please be praying for the youth from Fort Yukon that went to AKYC 09. We are praying that they will continue to pursue God and grow spiritually. Add Comment AK Youth Conference! 10/07/2009
For the first time Fort Yukon Assembly of God is going to be bringing youth from Fort Yukon to the AK Youth Conference! We are very excited about this opportunity. We have partnered with other churches as well at Wrights Air Service to sponsor the airfare cost for the youth. This way, the kids can go for the same cost as those living in Fairbanks or on the road system. If you would like to be a financial supporter of this trip, please contact us. Been a while 09/29/2009
First of all, sorry that it has been so long since the last update. There has been allot going on over the last few months so I will try to give you a good update. ![]() Right after camp Nahshii, we had Jonathon Marks move up to begin his Internship with us. We have been preparing for the church project (which is going well), building an apartment in the church, tearing down the Quonset Hut, preparing the garage (and the rest of the house and church) for Winter, and much more. We made a trip to Circle with the boat to pick up lumber and my BBQ grill. We made a few trips to Fairbanks for 4 months worth of groceries and supplies. And more! ![]() God has been amazing, as usual. He has blessed us in every way! We were able to sell our old truck and we were given a newer, better truck. The price to ship the new truck up is exactly what we sold the old one for. We were blessed with a 4 wheeler as well! God is good, and His people are giving. We are getting ready for winter as fast as we can. There is wood to be cut and split, as well as insulation to be installed and repaired. There is much to be done. We have started Sunday night and Wednesday night discipleship classes and we are looking forward to what God is going to do through us. Please keep us in your prayers and consider supporting us with your finances or your time. We can always use a hand around here! Praise God and keep knowing Him and making Him known! CAMP NAHSHII was AMAZING!!! 08/02/2009
![]() Wow, what a week. We just got back from Camp Nahshii a few days ago. I was so excited to see what God is doing with the young people of the Yukon flats. Besides the games, the fun, and the contests, we had the awesome privilege of speaking hope and life into the lives of youth from Beaver, Venetie, and Fort Yukon, ranging from age 11 to 19. It was great to get out into the wild and experience God in His creation. We are so glad that we are involved with This Generation Ministries and the God has chosen us to be His instruments in this area of Alaska. Fishing with Grandpa Pratt 07/05/2009
![]() We have been treated with the presence of Sharnay's grandpa (Pastor Ron's dad), Ira Pratt. He came up for a weekend visit. We have been taking him around town and on the river. He preached during the Sunday morning service here. We went fishing and Sharnay God stuck in the mud, Josh fell in the river, and Grandpa laughed at both. ![]() When we went out to go fishing on the Porcupine river, many things went wrong. First the truck decided to die when we were backing the boat into the river. We had to figure out how to pull the truck's weight off of the gear so that we could get it into neutral so we could start it. That took about an hour. Then, while we were out on the river, the motor died. We found out (after about 45 minutes of fidgeting with it) that the motor has a fuel reservoir which needs to be filled with fuel before the motor can run. So, even it you get the fuel to the engine, it's not enough, you have to pump it in there. ![]() After we figured that out, we had a grand ol' time. We caught five Pike. But I think the experience was worth all of the trouble. It was good to just hang out with grandpa and have fun on the river. TGM Ministers in Fort Yukon 07/03/2009
![]() Wow, this week has gone by so fast. After a bit of struggle on the Yukon River, the TGM team arrived in Fort Yukon on Monday evening. What a blessing it was to have them ministering and serving here at Fort Yukon Assembly of God. They cleaned up the park next to the school in preparation for the 4th of July celebration, they did prayer walks and ministered to people throughout the community, they blessed me and my wife tremendously here at the house, and much more. ![]() While the team was here we advertised Camp Nahshii (upcoming Native youth camp) on the local radio station and around the community. There is allot of interest and people seam very excited about this camp. Pastor Ron has asked me and Sharnay to be a part of developing this camp as well as ministering there. We are more than excited at this awesome opportunity.
![]() Also, there is much need for finances to come in before camp starts on the 26th of this month. Please consider supporting us as we reach out to the Yukon Flats. To learn how to support us, click on the INVEST page at the top of the website. Pitka in Fort Yukon! 06/27/2009
![]() Well, we finally arrived in Fort Yukon after a long adventure. My little brother, Joshua, and I left Fairbanks at 12:15 am on Thursday, headed towards Circle with the Mighty Pitka behind us. We arrived in Circle exactly 4 hours later at 4:15 am. It only took us a half an hour to get the boat in the water and the gear loaded into it. ![]() Unfortunately, we had way too much weight to get us up on the water, but we knew that ahead of time. We had planned on floating down river, which would have put us in Fort Yukon in about 12-14 hours, but the wind was blowing us up river just about as fast as the current was taking us down. This made our average floating speed about .6 mph. We decided that we didn't want to float to Fort Yukon for 90 hours, so we fired up the motor and headed down. We only got up to about 10 mph average, so the 90 mile trip took a little over 8 hours. We were home before 1:30 pm. Now, we are waiting as Pastor Ron and the TGM team head towards Fort Yukon so we can meet up and go from there. Keep us in your prayers, and please consider financially supporting our efforts through the "DONATE" button on the Invest page. Summer fun 06/09/2009
Well, Creation Camp is over. It was great, we had over 30 kids every day (Which is pretty amazing considering it was just Sharnay and myself running it). The kids planted veggies, made crafts, played games, and ate some wonderful dinners (Prepared by me, of course). Their plants are already a few inches tall and we have kids coming by to check out how they are growing. Vacation Over 05/31/2009
![]() Well, our vacation is over. We are so glad to be home. Have you ever been on a vacation that you felt like you needed a vacation from? Ya, it was kinda like that. We had fun, but we missed our garden, our church, our pets, our house, our bed, etc. Everything is so nice here in Fort Yukon. The plants are all green, the sun is out, the snow is gone, and boats are once again running the Mighty Yukon. Vacation 05-20-09 05/20/2009
Still going great! We had a rather lazy day today, just sitting around James and Trista's house. We went down to the local burger place and got a good ol' American Deluxe Cheeseburger, fries, and a root bear float. We sat outside in the beautiful weather and ate. We went for a short walk (too hot for a long one) and watched some T.V. | Author:
